Simple Editorial Calendar

I recently started blogging once a week in addition to other items I am working on. I was having trouble keeping up so a fellow writer shared their editorial calendar and I modified it for my use.

Excel is my choice to plan my posts because it is user friendly. You can add a table to Word or use whatever application works best for you. You can also use a piece of paper or a white board.

First, I put my categories across the top. The first 4 categories are for weeks 1-4 of each month. I added a 5th category for those months with an extra week.

Second, I put each month and year down the first column (I am only showing a partial list below).

Next, I put the day of the week in the top left corner. It is good to publish your blog post on the same day each week so readers will know when to look for a new one.

Finally, I start filling it out. For now, I am just putting the title of my blog post but you can put as much information as you want in each box. You can tailor it to your needs with endless possibilities.

Since I have started using this simple editorial calendar, I don’t have any trouble keeping up with my weekly blog posts. There is no guess work and I am enjoying my blogging.
