5 Fast & Easy Ways to Improve Your Chances of Success
Can you laugh at yourself?

Are you confident?
Do you have a good attitude?
A positive attitude is something you can cultivate right now that will make you happier, possibly more prosperous, and will inspire others.
Below are 5 ways to build a positive attitude and increase your chances of success.
1. Find the Positive in the Negative

Do you look at the glass half empty or half full?
If you are a half empty person, seeing things that way is a bad habit you need to break.
Instead of looking at the negative, take the opportunity to change your attitude in a positive way to move forward.
By turning this into a good habit, your confidence will increase and you will feel happier.
Let’s say you sit down to write an article and there is just a blank screen in front of you.
The ideas are not flowing, and you get frustrated.
Are there opportunities in this negative situation?
Of course!
You might use this opportunity to:
- Take a walk to clear your head or
- Give yourself a pep talk or
- Take one small task and complete it
No matter which option you choose, you have found the positive in the negative.
2. Laugh at Yourself
Everyone makes mistakes.
But you get to choose how you handle those.
Do you keep a positive attitude, or do you sound negative?
I used to get mad at myself when I made a mistake.
I am a perfectionist and would beat myself up for even small errors.
I submitted an article but sent the wrong file with only part of it.

I just laughed out loud at myself!
I couldn’t take it back, so I re-sent the correct file and moved forward.
You will make mistakes so be able to laugh about it and remain optimistic.
3. Maintain Flexibility
You must be flexible enough to change.

Plans can shift when we least expect it, especially in this technology age, and we must adapt.
I was almost finished working on a project when I got a call from my client.
They decided to change the entire scope of the project.
I worked with the client to understand the new direction and determined some of the work already done was salvageable.
I gave them a new price and completed the additional work in the new time frame.
It doesn’t always turn out this way, but being flexible can keep the customer happy and coming back for even more work.
4. Use Positive Words
When we use words like ‘can’t’ or ‘not’ or ‘don’t,’ this negativity slips into our subconscious, and we begin to use bad language.
I worked with a couple of ladies and we shared an office.
They talked in a negative manner and used bad language.
Several weeks later at home, my husband asked me why I was being so negative and using bad words.
I realized I had heard it so much at work it rubbed off on me.
Not good!
I made a conscious effort to ignore the bad words at work and substitute them with positive words like ‘can’ or ‘optimistic’ or ‘confident.’
You can also use encouraging affirmations to reprogram your success.

5. Surround Yourself with Positive People
Are you surrounded by people with negative attitudes?
Well, get away from them and surround yourself with people who have positive attitudes.
I had a good friend who didn’t ever have a positive thought.
She never spoke about anything good.
I tried to stay positive around her, but eventually we drifted apart because I didn’t want her negativity in my life.
Later, I shared an office with someone who had been through more negative things in her life than a lot of people.
However, we used better words, and we laughed a lot.
We were a good influence on each other.
Surround yourself with as many positive people as you can and see if you are happier and more successful.

What do you have to lose?
Nothing!
What do you have to gain?
Everything!
